Tom TenBrink served in education for 44 years - Jenison Public Schools for 34 years and 18 years as the district’s Superintendent overseeing a district of over 400 staff members and roughly 5,400 students sprinkled across eight buildings.
Under TenBrink’s leadership, the district successfully requested $121 million dollars in school bonds over the past decade to improve and upgrade facilities. The most recent accomplishment was a $61 million bond approved by voters in Summer 2021, which will be levied over the next 25 years.
TenBrink led Jenison Public Schools through an unprecedented school year marked by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to serving at Jenison Public Schools, Tom has also filled other education-related roles in Ottawa County. He was president of the Ottawa County Superintendent’s Association three times, served on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA) and served as president of Region 3 for MASA. He also represented Kent, Muskegon, and Ottawa counties as the executive chair of the West Michigan Talent Triangle, which comprises 41 area superintendents.
