Dr. Lisa A. Hagel joined the Michigan Leadership Institute as Executive Director in September 2021. She has served in education for nearly 30 years. She retired from the Genesee Intermediate School District, where she served as Superintendent for nearly 10 years, in June 2021. Throughout her career, Dr. Hagel has held numerous positions in educational leadership including; elementary school Principal, high school Principal, Curriculum Director, and Superintendent. Dr. Hagel has earned degrees from Central Michigan University, the University of Michigan, and Eastern Michigan University. She received her Doctorate degree from Walden University.

Dr. Hagel has achieved numerous professional credentials and has served on several boards including the Greater Flint Health Coalition, the Priority Children Board of Directors, and Genesys Healthcare System. Hagel has received also received many honors and awards such as the Educational Excellence Award, the Justus Prentice Award, and the Educational Discovery Award, to name a few.
